A Total Gleek

Last night I got to see Lauren Potter at a Down Syndrome Association of OC fundraiser (she was signing autographs and taking pictures) and she shared that Jane Lynch was the first one to go by Lauren's trailer to introduce herself. A real class act in real life.

As the cheerleading coach at McKinley High, she's nowhere near a class act.

In honor of Glee Season 1 finale tonight, I'm sharing some of Sue's (hilarious!) quotes.

*Disclaimer, clearly I do not condone these sayings or agree with them...but they make for a good laugh on TV!

"I don't trust a man with curly hair. I can't help picturing small birds laying sulfurous eggs in there, and I find it disgusting."

"I'll need to see the set list for sectionals, after all. I want them on my desk warm from the laminator at 5pm. If it is one minute late, I will go to the animal shelter and get you a kitty cat. I will let you fall in love with that kitty cat. And then on some dark cold night I will steal away into your home and punch you in the face."

"You know what, I checked out of our conversation about a minute back, so good luck with your troubles, and I'm gonna make it a habit not to stop and talk to students because this has been a colossal waste of my time."

"Let's break it down. You want to be creative. You want to be in the spotlight. Face it: you want to be me. So here's the deal. You do with your depressing little group of kids what I did with my wealthy, elderly mother: euthanize it. It's time."

Wowzers

It's been almost a month since I last blogged. And I don't even have the excuse of tax season. Oh well.

Let's see what we've missed...

1. I had some Canadian friends, Amy & Dana, come visit me.
2. I flew to San Francisco for a work conference.
3. Bridal showers.
4. The season finale of Bones -sniff, sniff!
5. A weekend at BEAUTIFUL Harbor Island in San Diego.
6. Earl participated in, but won't move on to Districts, in the Guitar Center King of the Blues competition.
7. We moved to a new office suite and I got my own office.
8. We started up the second round of Hope's Heroes running club at the Village of Hope. We have about 20 runners gearing up for the Long Beach Half Marathon!
9. Today is Beachside Summer Fest (watch online here: http://beachsidesummerfest.com/)
10. My mom's chemo was delayed due to shingles, but we are praying for healing in time for the newly scheduled chemo date. And June 28th is the day of her post-treatment scan. And we are praying this will show that there is nothing left!

I just got home from run number three with the new group. I'm hitting the shower so we can head out to Huntington Beach. The AVP Pro Tour is happening as well, so it's going to be a busy day at the beach!!

They Can Dance

I just finished watch the season finale of So You Think You Can Dance. I never got into this before, but a few friends from Miami have been crazy for this show and have known people on the show. So it created a buzz - and then I saw a recital that was so powerful. I have seen another video tonight.
The first dance is a contemporary routine inspired by breast cancer. A moving and powerful piece.
The second piece is a portrait of addiction. The male dancer's father and sister both had meth addictions. I don't think I have ever seen anything as powerful as this dance.
