Scoping out the Future

We know God is not slack concerning His promises. Back in December when the doctors first said all they could do was surgery to remove Ignace* and 3/4 of my mom's tongue, God revealed Himself to us. That same day I read Daniel 3 in my daily reading and listened to a testimony of a friend who has walked the cancer road in which she shared Daniel 3. My mom read that night in two different devotionals Daniel 3. And two days later, my friend read Daniel 3 in his daily reading on the same day he read the email asking for prayer. God spoke a clear word to us in FIVE different instances:

Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego answered and said to the king, "O Nebuchadnezzar, we have no need to answer you in this matter. If that is the case, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and He will deliver us from your hand, O king. But if not, let it be known to you, O king, that we do not serve your gods, nor will we worship the gold image which you have set up." [...] Then Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego came from the midst of the fire. And the satraps, administrators, governors, and the king's counselors gathered together, and they saw these men on whose bodies the fire had no power; the hair of their head was not singed nor were their garments affected, and the smell of fire was not on them.

God was going to bring us out of this - someway, somehow.

Today, my mom was at the hospital to get fitted for her radiation mask and the doctor did a scope to look at Ignace*.  What he found was a tumor that has been shrinking and responding to chemotherapy and prayer. What he said was that he feels confident ruling out surgery. Did you get that?? From "all we can do is surgery" to "you don't need surgery." The hair of their head was not singed nor were their garments affected, and the smell of fire was not on them.

We have a long road ahead of us, but we are praising Jehovah Rapha, the One who heals. Two more rounds of chemo and seven weeks of radiation await us. The doctors warned us that the radiation will be worse than the chemo. Please continue to pray for relief from side effects, for her swallowing not to be affected, for strength to face each day. Thank you for all your prayers. He is moved with compassion to act on our behalf.

*Ignace is what we affectionately call my mom's tumor.
